Okay, so I have to confess, that all week long I had NO idea what I was going to photograph for this assignment. Then in the 11th hour this little duck came into our lives (courtesy of a quick trip to the old Neiman’s offices to visit). I like to think this fearless leader is trudging his troops through the pouring down rain in hopes to make it back to the homeland – The Westin Las Vegas. And how about that crazy happy penguin? He kind of doesn’t know what’s going on, or why he’s getting all muddy, but he’s going with it anyway.
Happy Weekend everybody! Now go see what everyone else came up with for their weekly assignment of LEADERSHIP – starting with Katie’s blog www.katesuzannephotography.com/blog
This past weekend I attending my 3rd bloom photography workshop, and as per usual it did not disappoint! It was such an amazing gathering of photographers from all across the U.S. We hung out, swapped stories and tricks of the trade all while snapping away at some gorgeous models. It was so great to be around so many creative minds and talented women! The weekend left me refreshed and ready to tackle my 2011 clients. Stay tuned for some great new products and offers!
Here are some of my favorite photos I took while there, I still have about 200 left to go through, so more to come later
This week’s Bloom project 52 assignment was “shades of red/love.” I was able to snag this shot at the tail end of my awesome session with Lauren and Alex. It reminds me of summers in Ohio and our town’s annual strawberry festival. And with our weather in the high 70′s this past week it feels like picnics in the park are just around the corner.

Valentine’s Day is now coming to an end but hopefully your romance lives on until the next holiday…. Easter? Just in time to score a great new bonnet? Hope you were able to carve out a little time for love today. And if you weren’t, there’s always tomorrow. Don’t be lazy. Yes, I’m talking to you.
If you need a little motivation, look no further than photos from my recent session with Lauren and Alex Rodgers. When I asked them to write each other a love letter for our shoot they didn’t hesitate for a second! I wanted to photograph a little taste of their love and boy did I get what I asked for. At one point I had to put the camera down and compose myself, their words were so unbelievably moving. They are such a beautiful, real, and down to earth couple. I was so blessed to spend a gorgeous morning with them. Thanks guys!
another great product available to my clients are custom made dry erase boards. they come in various sizes (really big ones too!) and i can completely customize them. i can add your favorite quotes, patterns to coordinate with your decor, photos from your recent session, the possibilities are endless.
i made a couple to spruce up my kitchen cabinets. every morning i would tear off a sheet of paper and tape it up as my to do list for the day. no bueno for the environment and not too attractive either. now i’ve got two, one for ongoing notes and one for that day’s to do’s. FUN!
before shot of sad cabinets:
LONELY piece of paper:
HAPPY CUPBOARDS!!!!!
much better
this week’s project 52 assignment was “treasure.” upon hearing the topic i immediately wanted to photograph one of my statement pieces of jewelry or love momentos from nick. but that desire was completely trumped when i discovered a hidden treasure lurking in my cupboards……
for those of you who have kids, you can appreciate the daily struggle that is meal time. trying to get them out of their comfort zone, trying new foods, having said food thrown at the floor (or you). it’s really a good time all around. this week i introduced caden to a morningstar veggie burger. not because we’re vegetarians (b/c we totally aren’t), but mostly b/c it’s all i have left in the fridge (can i blame the cold weather for my lack of wifely duties). anywho – as per expected i was met with a grimace and some screaming…… until…… it occurred to me to introduce a new food group. the condiment.
low and behold i found my treasure for the week. ketchup. i raced to the office. grabbed my camera, and shot away. don’t mind the drama of the succession of photos. it’s cold out, i’m stir crazy, and a little bored.
now that you’ve checked out my TREASURE, head on over to Anna’s Blog to see her take on the subject.
because he is my best friend. because he puts up my insanity. because he is THE best father i’ve ever witnessed. because he has so much love and compassion in his heart. because he works his a$% off every day, and every night (well into midnight and beyond most nights) so i can stay at home and raise our perfect baby boy. because i can ask him to go to the grocery store for me at 8pm on a tuesday night. and he’ll do it. with nothing but joy and enthusiasm. because i love him with my heart and soul.
he is my immortal valentine.
who’s your valentine this year?
I don’t love Mondays. But I’m going to try to make the best out of today. Since it’s too cold to venture out to buy yourself fresh flowers, the next best thing is a beautiful portrait of one. Enjoy!
